"AVK" - one of the leaders of the confectionery industry of Ukraine - started its activities in 1991. For more than 10 years the central office "AVK" is located in Kiev, and the main production facilities are concentrated in Dnepropetrovsk.

The supervisory board of AVK company appointed Valerii Kravets as the director general and board chairperson. Earlier Kravets had occupied the position of a deputy chairperson of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, an adviser of chairperson of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea for introduction of economic reforms, and a deputy director general of the company.

The AVK Company has started its activity in 1991 as a supplier of cacao products to the Ukrainian confectionery factories. It has been needed only three years the first sweets – hollow chocolate figures, were produced.In 1996 the AVK Company purchased the confectionery factory in Donetsk and afterwards the factories in Lugansk and Mukacheve. It had provided the opportunity to extend the assortment of confectionery products.
Now AVK incorporates 4 factories based in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk and Mukacheve.

Ukrainian Confectionery AVK Reports Strong Growth in 2000

Kyiv, February 27, 2001 - AVK, Ukraine's premier producer of high quality confectionery products, announced today its financial and operating results for the year 2000. Unit sales increased by 28% over 1999 to 60.6 thousand tons, while revenues for the year reached $60 million for the first time in the Company's history. AVK is currently the second largest producer in the rapidly expanding and very competitive Ukrainian confectionery market.
In addition to turning in strong financial and operating results, AVK continued to strengthen its portfolio of specialty and proprietary products. In November, the maker of the popular Mazhor snack bars and Club Jelle bars launched a new line of elite boxed chocolates under the brand name "Talisman".
Volodymyr Avramenko, Chairman of the Board, stated that, "The strong demand for AVK's products is a result of the Company's ongoing dedication to producing the highest quality confections available on the Ukrainian market."
A testament to that ongoing commitment to quality, the Company was awarded ISO 9001 certification for its chocolate glazing factory on January 25, 2001. AVK is the number one producer of chocolate glazing in Ukraine, a key component to many of its products and those of other confectioneries, bakeries and ice-cream manufacturers in the region.
AVK began the ISO certification process in November 1999. In addition to the manufacturing process itself, as many as ten other company-wide processes such as procurement, sales, marketing, logistics, warehousing and human resources were evaluated and brought into accordance with ISO 9001 requirements. AVK plans to extend the ISO certification to its new biscuit manufacturing facility in Donetsk. The factory is scheduled to be commissioned in the spring and will provide the Company the means to continue its strong growth in 2001.
